Sheriff Vowell Receives Award

Tift County Sheriff Gary Vowell was recognized as a member of the Top Ten Club for his fundraising efforts on behalf of the Georgia Sheriff’s Youth Homes.  Sheriff Vowell sponsored a golf tournament and other events which raised $76,492 for the Youth Homes.  Those efforts were 6^th in the state in fundraising for the youth homes, that’s approximately $1.99 per person in Tift County.  The money was earmarked for the Sheriff’s Boys Ranch in Hahira which currently houses 30 kids, 24 boys and 6 girls with 9 of those youngsters coming from Tift County.
